Cross country skiing is a sport which is less popular than many of the other sports, but it has its loyal and faithful following none the less. Perhaps one of the more simple adaptations, cross country skiing uses a lightweight and straight forward seating system which is directly mounted to a pair of cross country skis. The ski poles are similar to standard crosscountry ski poles but are cut short to fit a seated skiier. The cross country skiier uses a double pole action to propel forward on the ski. Turning and stopping are more difficult since the skis are locked in a parallel position which is more beneficial for speed. Cross country skiing can be found in most snowy regions and can be seen in regional, national, and international events and is also an event in the paralympics. Since this is a sport enjoyed by relatively few there are not many resources available on the web. However, as cross country sking grows in popularity, the sport should see more web presence.
